Artist Profile
Artist Name: X-Kid
Genre: Hip-Hop
Location: Seattle, Washington
Bio: Misunderstood genius in an atmosphere of distrust created X-Kid; music, art & mind elevation unleashed X-Kid on an unsuspecting public. X-Kid’s science is transmitted as mathematics and as medication for your eardrums from weak rhymes and beats. The real history behind the innovator of Immaculate Flave, the Cutting Edge in Music Entertainment and Visuals? Breakdancing (X-Kid’s crew Reflex was fully sponsored by Pepsi); Dynamic (Mc’ing in the early days of Portland, OR hip hop with DJ Pauly Paul & Seanski). A move north to Seattle brought X-Kid into D.Ganksta Records as part of the group P.O.W (Players on Wax) and stunned the NW with the classic “Down Wit P.O.W”. A federal drug case and a crooked investigation desinigrated the hierarchy of the label, leaving X-Kid solo in the concrete jungle of the Central to develop a new form of psychosomatic science.
Solo projects followed and 2003 brought X-Kid “Scienz Klass”, the 1st full-length release from Immaculate Flave. Shows @ Showbox, Fenix Underground, Roseland Theater, Ballard Firehouse showed X-Kid’s abilty to move crowds effortlessly. An extensive list of shows with all the NW greats: Mixalot, Pete Miser, Cool Nutz, Lifesavas, Oldominion, DJ Chill, E-Dawg, Sonny Bonoho, Neema, Mic Crenshaw, Hungry Mob, Livio, Silent Lambs Project, Macklemore, Alpha P, Grayskul and so many others it’s bananas. 2006 brought “The Tombz”, a dark trip into the cold winter style of dirty basement hip-hop X-Kid was creating at the time, releasing the single “Blow Treez” & following up with the “Blow Treez” Tour with Sleep of Oldominion & 1st Platoon. A year long stay in 2004 in NYC plus appearances on Pete Miser’s “Camouflage is Relative”, Trakwerk’s “Affiliated” & shows @ Pyramind Nightlub, Rare, Groovejet, Sidewalk Cafe, Asterisk, 169 Bar, Bowery Poetry Club & others embedded the NW favorite X-Kid’s name in NYC’s fresh late night hip hop scene.
Hip hop isn’t the only realm X-Kid excels, as alter ego Red Apache, he has created a hybrid of style called ”neo-pimp rock” & plays dates as bassist and vocalist for the band Black Gravity. The single “Coming Home” spawned an insane video based off of the video game Grand Theft Auto, shot entirely on location in NYC by 39Cent Productions. You can also find X-Kid music on "Shady O Grady's Risng Star" video game by Gilligames (www.gilligames.com).
X-Kid constantly performs in every market of the US & provides an energetic show that satisfies everyone from the grimy hip hop heads, the hip hop purists, the ladies who like to the night away. A 2-year stint in Hollywood, CA had X-Kid performing at such venues as Knitting Factory, Key Club, On the Rox on Sunset. As well, new music infected X-Kid’s equilibrium, chain reacting into the next wave of verbal insanity, the new album “.700”, with peformances by Marcie Smith & Eccentric of American Idol fame, Truth Karmatic, Hollywood Kill, Evolutionary Music & many others. Summer 2007 brought “.700 World Series” Tour, a 32 city hip hop extravaganza with guest artists The Pirate Signal, Alpha P, DJ Inform & Immaculate Flave labelmates Aries & Dank P & "Haze Fest 2007"Tour a hybrid tour of rock , r & b & hip hop w/ Ben's Jazz Kit, Talana & Snow White the Product.
2008 is just as promising for the socially savvy entrepeneur. A 30 city tour “Massive Damage 2008” which will be shot as a reality series entirely in 300% HD, capturing X-Kid’s interactions with the best underground/ unsigned hip hop talent across the US & every market. Does X-Kid command the stage with the big guns? Shows with Ol DB, Twista, DJ Quik, De La Soul, Digital Underground, Luniz, Bad Brains are just some of the wide array of talent X-Kid has rocked with. If you want to be moved by beats and verbs, X-Kid’s got everything you need.
